Under the suspended roof, a scene of a sumo ring entering ceremony with a colorful ceremonial apron. The "shizumemono" (offerings) beneath the Dohyo (sumo ring), and the famous yakitori grilled underground. This tenugui is dyed using the Chusen method, capturing the sacred and gentle atmosphere of the Kokugikan.

Size (approx.): 37 x 90 cm

Material: Cotton

Made in Japan

"Chusen" is a dyeing technique developed in Osaka during the Meiji period. Since it is dyed twice from both the front and back, it is characterized by beautiful dyeing with no front or back. As all processes are performed by skilled craftsmen by hand, no two items are exactly alike. You can enjoy the unique texture that only handwork can provide. With each wash, the colors become softer and the fabric becomes more pleasant to the touch.
