This is a commemorative pure gold koban coin of Rikishi Aonishiki, an official product of the Japan Sumo Association, who achieved the remarkable feat of winning the championship at the January 2026 Grand Sumo Tournament Champion Sumo Tournament.
Aonishiki defeated Atamifuji in the championship playoff, successfully achieving his second consecutive championship.
His championship as a new Ozeki is a historic achievement, the first in approximately 20 years since Hakuho.
Manufactured by the long-established ""Tokuriki Honten,"" founded in 1727 (Kyoho 12).
Each coin is meticulously finished by artisans using the traditional ""heragake"" technique, passed down since the Edo period.
The surface is inscribed with the sumo wrestler Aonishiki's ring name in sumō-ji calligraphy.
This is a special pure gold koban coin commemorating a historic championship.
