The most important training for sumo wrestlers. Daily efforts lead to victory. This comical design, as if the sumo wrestlers have become origami, depicts them diligently performing shiko (leg stomps), teppo (pushing practice), matawari (full splits), butsukari (charging practice), and mukade suriashi (crab-walk footwork). If you look closely, you might even spot a sumo wrestler already enjoying chanko (hot pot)...

This tenugui (hand towel) is dyed using the chusen technique.

Size (approx.): 37 x 90 cm

Material: Cotton

Made in Japan

"Chusen" is a dyeing technique that originated in Osaka during the Meiji period. It is characterized by being dyed twice, from both the front and back, resulting in a beautiful, consistent color on both sides.
As all processes are carried out by hand by artisans, no two items are exactly alike. You can enjoy the unique texture that only handmade items possess. With each wash, the colors will soften and the fabric will become more pleasant to the touch.

Please read the "Usage Precautions" on the product packaging before use.
