Sumo Stable Chanko(Sumo Hotpot Stew)(Sumo Hotpot Stew)(Sumo Hotpot Stew) is a popular product that allows you to easily enjoy chanko hot pot made at Sumo Stables, processed using freeze-drying technology.
We have renewed the product, keeping the popular Kasugano-beya and Sadogatake-beya flavors, and adding flavors from four more stables!
We received detailed recipes from the stable masters and sumo wrestlers of each stable, and created freeze-dried prototypes.
This time, we bring you a report from the tasting session at Futagoyama stable!
In mid-June, after the lingering excitement of the May Grand Sumo Tournament had settled down.

We visited Futagoyama stable, located in Shibamata, on a training-off day.
We asked Futagoyama Oyakata (former Ozeki Masayama), his wife, and Kotakiyama to taste-test the product.
The flavor recreated this time was "Tomato Chanko."
"We think about what to make, using whatever ingredients we have on hand, so that all the gifts we receive can be eaten without waste," said the Oyakata.
The wrestlers sometimes refer to online recipes, and if a dish turns out delicious, it might become a regular item on the menu.
Tomato chanko was also a recipe created by the wrestlers themselves when they received a large quantity of tomatoes. Depending on the availability of ingredients, it is said to be a popular dish that appears about once every two weeks. Of course, it also appears on the stable's official YouTube channel!
After pouring hot water, we waited for one minute.
After one bite, Futagoyama Oyakata gave it high praise, saying, "Honestly, I didn't expect it to be this delicious. It's very well made!"
He also suggested arrangements, saying, "Adding more olive oil would be good. It might also be delicious if you add rice and cheese to make it like cheese risotto."
*He actually ate it with rice afterwards.
Here, we also asked for advice from Kotakiyama-san.
After a moment's thought, he said, "I'd like a little more olive oil flavor." As a result, the finished product contains more olive oil than the original recipe.
Please enjoy this dish, packed with the wrestlers' ingenuity, in freeze-dried form! Sales are scheduled for the afternoon of August 28th. Product details can be found here.
